SOMEONE ONCE TOLD ME THE GRASS IS MUCH GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE.
" "
WELL, I PAID A VISIT, BUT IT'S POSSIBLE THAT I MISSED IT.
" This story starts off with my father, Aberto De Luca, he was in his early thirties and living in Italy at the time. As the story goes he saw my mother, Adriana Mendina, and his whole world stopped, or so he says. My mother was visiting from Spain with her family. She was young, fresh out of college, but she decided to go ahead and marry my father. Both of their families had been over joyed and had thrown a big Catholic mass in Spain, but it was decided that they would live in Italy where my father already had a house. After they had settled down together they decided to conceive a child, me. I was born in Turin, Italy but my parents decided to move to the states when I was only five. If it were my choice we would still be living in Italy rather than Illinois, it's a beautiful country. Needless to say my parents both found jobs quickly, my dad as a surgeon and my mother as a financial consultant. Growing up they were never home a lot, but I know they felt bad about it, they always tried to make up for it with a pointless gift or family dinners that never worked out.
Now you're probably wondering when we all found out that I was 'gifted'. My parents always knew I was smart, they never knew how capacious my knowledge really was. However most of my teachers noticed, I was usually bored in class, never paying too much attention, they had dubbed me as a slacker until it came time to take tests, which 'surprisingly' I'd ace. By the time I was twelve my parents had heard of Kensington Academy. My teachers encouraged it profusely much to my dismay. I wanted to have a normal middle school experience with all my friends and what not. But before I knew it I was accepted and being shipped off to Maryland.
The new school was a shock to my system, I actually had to try. I enjoyed the challenge, but that wore off after the first year. I was lazy and didn't want to do the work, I wanted to have fun. My grades had dropped rapidly and eventually I was put on probation. Knowing the hell I would get if I got sent back home, I started to improve my grades which at the time was almost an impossible task. The next years were a bore I preferred to party rather than study. I'm counting the days till I'm out of here."
IT SEEMED DIFFERENT, YET EXACTLY THE SAME.
