SOMEONE ONCE TOLD ME THE GRASS IS MUCH GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE.
"I guess I'm a pretty average guy. I mean, my IQ isn't average, but I don't solve mathematical phenomenons or create cold fusion. That's just silly; that's for other guys. I try to be as normal as possible, but I take my grades very seriously. I typically make straight A's, and hell yes, I'm proud of it. School always comes first, then friends. I'm pretty happy for the friends that I have. I'm a chill guy, really, but I don't make a deal out of big social groups. I have a few close buds, some females I can hang with without it being awkward, and some other people that I talk to when I feel the need to talk to them. I've had my share of girlfriends, but I don't need any right now. I have fun with them and everything, but they're so clingy. I haven't found the right one for me yet.
"Next to academics is sports. (My mom wants me to learn some kind of instrument, or ten, but I really am not cut out for that. I tried the piano, the violin, the guitar . . . I probably can't even play the triangle right, but I'm not going to embarrass myself to find out.) I don't play on any sports teams, but I'm pretty well-rounded when it comes to athletics. I love P.E., too, but it's not my best subject. (That's science -- and I do plan to go to medical school, so what a relief.) I can watch sports on TV all day, though. Well, not really; that's just an expression. I watch sports with my old man a lot, though. I enjoy spending time with my family, even if they can be real sticks in the mud sometimes. My little sister goes to some public school, so I don't see her as much as I wish, but I find ways. I'm not a real fan of eating, even though my metabolism is pretty damned good, but I enjoy sweets. Give me a piece of chocolate or a slice of cake, and I'll swallow that sucker pretty quick. I do my best to enjoy life. While I don't do drugs or drink regularly, I do make mistakes . . . but none of them have dramatically changed my life, so I guess I'm doing all right.
"I'm not a breath-taker with my looks, but I'm sure as hell not ugly, and I think I can be pretty charming most of the time. My favourite thing about me would be my smile, seeing as I usually carry one. (I'm pretty friendly to everyone, even if I don't plan on becoming friends with them.) My hair is naturally brown, but I dye it and give it highlights a lot. Why? I like to be original and different. I don't really keep it short, but it's not wavy and ridiculously long like some Californian surfer dude. I'm comfortable with my body (I have an athletic build, but I'm not a body-builder), so all of it's pretty tan. (Gotta love the beach!) I'm not crispy and dark, but I'm nothing out of an R.L. Stine book, either. I have brown eyes. Nothing special there. I'm about 5'6" standing tall, so not too tall or too short for my tastes."
WELL, I PAID A VISIT, BUT IT'S POSSIBLE THAT I MISSED IT.
Go into detail about your character's history. Again, we're not asking for a novel. We don't need something compared to a biography on Napoleon Bonaparte; just outline key parts of your character's history, including information about his or her family, the childhood, and everything leading up to now. If it doesn't flow or give us enough information, then the administrators will definitely be pointing that out. This should be in first- or third-person depending upon the point-of-view used in the previous section.
IT SEEMED DIFFERENT, YET EXACTLY THE SAME.
